Vicki and I have been taking dance lessons at Social Life Dance Center since September 2009. The driving factor for us to start lessons was our daughter's upcoming marriage. We never learned how to dance, never went out dancing, nor danced at weddings. Our intent (or should I say, my wife's intent) was for her and I to dance, but also for my daughter and I to have a nice father/daughter dance. I was less than enthused during the first month of taking lessons. Gradually, I took a liking to it. It's not as easy as it looks and takes concentration and practice. It provides us with nice exercise and is something that Vicki and I can do together.
Today, we take several practice lessons a week, take advantage of the group lessons and attend the Friday night dance parties. We did look around at different dance studios. We found Social Life to have a nice atmosphere and cost competitive to the other name-brand studios. Gina and staff are very passionate in their profession. You will learn not only the steps, but also the proper style and composure. In the one and a half years that we've started our dancing, we've learned the Merengue, Cha-Cha, Mambo, Waltz, Fox Trot, Foxy, Hustle, Rumba, Swing, Tango Texas Shuffle, Country Two Step and a variety of line dances. Mind you, we aren't pros and you won't see us on "Dancing with the Stars", but we do enjoy the fun and camaraderie. So...if you decide to check out Social Life, perhaps we'll see you there.
